In some places, there is just so much to do that it might be easier to put an article together on what isn't available. Those who have a zip in Long Beach California know that it is just such a place. This city has a large population, access to even larger cities, and weather that is great almost year round. That means there is a lot to do all the time; let's have a look at some of the major highlights of the area.

Sports

Massive expanses of beach and that great weather we mentioned mean that the favorite past time of most Long Beach residents involves outdoor sports. If you are looking to send a child to hockey school, the pickings are slim, but for any those who love outdoor recreation and water sports of any kind, there is plenty to do. Roller derbies are held every year, there are always people willing to play a game of beach volleyball, and a Grand Prix is the largest annual event in the city.

Aquarium of the Pacific

Devoted to the wonders of the Pacific Ocean, this non-profit building is one of the largest of its kind in the United States. It's also the only zoo or aquarium to have increased the number of visitors through its doors in the last six years, and a forerunner in the effort to run this type of attraction in a more environmentally friendly manner. Passes are the perfect complement to day spa gifts for mom!

Historical attractions

Long Beach has a long history composed by the interaction of many cultures, and this history can be found throughout the city. There are some beautiful Japanese Gardens at the campus of the California State University, and the original Rancho Los Alamitos still has many buildings intact. Those buildings have inspired many of the newer structures in Long Beach, with Lusterstone used to provide the defining touches.

Shopping

Hey, it's California, not Edmonton! Botox clinics and shopping malls abound to serve an upwardly mobile, advantageously situated populace. That means you will find the latest fashions from the biggest names in ladies casual clothing, wedding and business attire, and any number of other areas at great prices.

Gondola rides

Long Beach is one of only a handful of cities in the United States to offer gondola rides within city limits. Singing pilots guide you along the canals of Naples (yes, you read that correctly!). It's a great way to spend a romantic evening.
